Background: Interleukin-1 beta (IL1 beta or IL IL-1B) also known as catabolin, is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family family, is produced by ac tivated macrophages, I IL-1B stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing il il-2 release, b b-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL1B proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identifi ed as endogenous pyro gens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin from synovial cells.
