Short Description: Recombinant BRDT (21-137) protein, GST-Tag includes amino acids 21-137 (Bromodomain) of human BRDT protein (accession number NP_001229735.2); it was expressed in E Coli and contains an N-terminal GST-Tag with a molecular weight of 40.2 kDa. This protein is suitable for use in binding assays, inhibitor screening, and selectivity profiling.
Background: BRDT is similar to the RING3 protein family. It possesses two bromodomain motifs and a PEST sequence (a cluster of proline, glutamic acid, serine, and threonine residues), characteristic of proteins that undergo rapid intracellular degradation. The bromodomain functions as a 'reader' of epigenetic histone marks and regulates chromatin structure and gene expression by linking associated proteins to the recognized acetylated nucleosomal targets. It shows binding specificity for acetylated H2BK12/15, H3K9/14/18/23, H4K12, H4K5/8, H4K8/12, H4K12/16, H4K5/12, H4K5/8/12/16 and H4K5/8/12/16.
