Description: Recombinant full-length human SUV420H1 (KMT5B) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase, Suppressor of variegation 4-20 homolog 1 SUV420H1 specifically trimethylates 'Lys-20' of histone H4, which in turn acts as a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression. Located in pericentric heterochromatin regions, and plays a central role in the establishment of constitutive heterochromatin in these regions. Interacts with a family of proteins that display similarity with dual-specificity phosphatases (dsPTPases) mediated by its SET domains.
