Description: Western Blot positive control for Humanin Antibody
Overview:
Humanin is a peptide that is 21 or 24 amino acids long whether it is produced in the mitochondria or cytosol respectively. Humanin is encoded by the mi16S ribosomal RNA gene MT-RNR2 (2). Humanin is believed to have neuroprotective and cytoprotective effects. Studies have found humanin and humanin derivatives increase survival and physiological parameters in Alzheimer's disease models. Humanin is also believed to play neuroprotective roles in Huntington's deisease, prion disease and strokes. Humanin may playa role in various other ailments including protection against oxidative stress, atherosclerotic plaque formation, heart attack and diabetes.
The pan-Humanin selective antibodies were generated using a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid region 5-24 on human Humanin peptide. The Humanin antibodies are affinity purified over immobilized antigen based affinity chromatography. The purified immunoglobulins are prepared in stabilization buffer for long term storage. Antigenic blocking peptides, and western blot positive control in ready to use SDS-sample buffer are available. Antibodies can be conjugated to fluorophores and other secondary enzymes upon request at nominal cost. The pan-Humanin selective antibodies will label all Humanin isoforms except Humanin 9. Humanin 9-selective antibody is available for detection of only the Humanin 9 isoform.
