Hepatitis B virus surface gene encodes small (HBs), middle (MHBs) and large (LHBs)surface protein. These proteins are translated from distinct start codons, but share acommon reading frame and stop codon. HBs has 226 amino acids, a major viral envelopecomponent.
HBsAg is an important parameter to establish a identification of hepatitis B disease in theclinical and to monitor antiviral treatment. Whole length HBS surfac antigen of HBVsubtype adw2 was expressed from E Coli containing 226 amino acids, with molecularweight about 23kDa with a 6 x his tag linked at its C-terminal.
