- Ferritin protein consists of 24 protein units, these are both light and heavy type with MW of 19 kDa and 21 kDa respectively. Each Ferritin complex (MW 474 kDa) can store 4500 iron ions. Serum Ferritin levels are measured as part of the iron studies work up for anemic and for restless leg syndrome. Ferritin can be elevated during periods of acute malnourishment. This antibody reacts with human Ferritin.
