- C-fos belongs the Fos family. Other members include FosB, Fra-1, Fra-2. c-fos binds to JUN/AP1 transcription factor. C-Fos is expressed in placental tissue, fetal liver, developing bone, developing central nervous system, and adult bone marrow. It is expressed in the nucleus and in the endoplasmic reticulum. c-Fos has a role in signal transduction, cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. C-Fos is overexpressed in many cancers.
