YBX3 (Y-box Binding Protein 3, also known as ZONAB and CSDA) is a Protein Coding gene. The YBX3 gene, located on 12p13.2, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, and frog. The Y-box proteins YBX2 and YBX3 bind RNA and DNA and are required for metazoan development and fertility. YBX3 is an epithelial-specific transcription factor acting in the density-based switch between proliferation and differentiation. 3 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. YBX3 is widely expressed in the testis, skin, and other tissues. Diseases associated with YBX3 include Lyme Disease and Uterine Inflammatory Disease. 163 organisms have orthologs with the human gene YBX3.
