PSMD4 (Proteasome 26S Subunit, Non-ATPase 4) is a Protein Coding gene. The PSMD4 gene, located on 1q21.3, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, and rat, etc. This gene encodes one of the non-ATPase subunits of the 19S regulator lid. Pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 10 and 21. PSMD4 is a major receptor of the 26S proteasome involved in ubiquitin-dependent and proteasome-mediated protein degradation. PSMD4 is widely expressed in the testis, placenta, and other tissues. Diseases associated with PSMD4 include Cholera and Cystic Fibrosis. The related pathways of PSMD4 are Regulation of activated PAK-2p34 by proteasome-mediated degradation and Antigen processing-Cross presentation.
