Leads to drug resistance for microtubule-targeting drugs such as taxol and celastrol by downregulation of p53. DDX53 promotes autophagy by increasing expression of ATG5 via direct binding to the promoter of ATG5 in breast cancer cells. In addition, DDX53 shows co-expression with CD133, a cancer stemness marker, and is served as a new key regulator of cancer stem cell- like properties in taxol-resistant melanoma. Many evidences suggest that DDX53 is one of the attractive targets for developing anti-cancer drugs, there have not been reports concerning the role of DDX53 in cervix cancer.DDX53 (DEAD-Box Helicase 53) is a Protein Coding gene.
