SLITEK6 is a member of the SLITRK (SLIT-and NTRK-like Famliy) family of proteins. These proteins are primarily expressed in brain and control neurite outgrowth. SLITEK6 is an integral membrane protein with 2 N-terminal leucine-rich repeats (LRR) domains and a C-terminal domain that shares homology with neurotrophin receptors. SLITRK6 is highly expressed in thalamus and putamen and unlike other family members also in lung and medulloblastomas.
