Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for beta2-MG has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells with a biotin-conjugated beta2-MG. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between beta2-MG (Standards or samples) and biotin-conjugated beta2-MG with the pre-coated antibody. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in opposite to the amount of beta2-MG in sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
