Background/Introduction: Lactic acid is metabolic product of glycolysis. Lactic acid is producted from bone, muscle, brain and red blood cell. It is excreted from renal secretion after liver metabolism. The assay of blood lactic acid can reflect oxygen supply status, metabolism and inadequate perfusion of tissue. The elevation of lactic acid level can be seen in a variety of clinical conditions. NAD + as the hydrogen receptor, LDH catalyzes the dehydrogenation of lactate to produce pyruvate, the process converts NAD + to NADH. The dehydrogenation of PMS reduce NBT to purple coloring matter. The absorbance of coloring matter is linear relationship with the lactic acid content at 530nm.
