Short Description: Recombinant EHMT1 (894-1298) protein includes amino acids 894-1298 of human EHMT1 protein (accession number NP_079033.4); it was expressed in E Coli and contains an N-terminal GST-Tag with a molecular weight of 79.1 kDa. The purity of the protein is > 85% by SDS-PAGE. It is suitable for use in the study of enzyme kinetics, inhibitor screening, and selectivity profiling.
Background: EHMT1(Euchromatic Histone Methyltransferase 1, EuHMT1, EuHMTase1, G9a like protein, GLP1) is a SET domain-containing histone methyltransferase specific for lysine 9 of histone H3. It is possible that this protein is involved in the silencing of Myc and E2F-responsive genes and thus could play a role in regulating cell cycle transitions from G0 to G1.
