Description: Recombinant full-length T4 UvsY Protein from Escherichia virus T4 was expressed in E Coli using an N-terminal His-tag. The gene accession number is X04856.
Scientific Background: UvsY is a bacteriophage T4 recombination mediator protein (RMP) which promotes homologous recombination. UvsY exists in solution predominantly as a hexamer, and binds to ssDNA in this form. UvsY facilitates assembly of presynaptic filaments by loading UvsX recombinase onto ssDNA and the concomitant displacement of Gp32 ssDNA-binding protein from ssDNA (1,2). Applications include, increasing yield and processivity of RT during RT-PCR and stimulating DNA synthesis in vitro.
