S. typhi is a common pathogen causing typhoid fever, it affects more than 17 million people with nearly 600,000 deaths annually in the world; untreated typhoid fever cases result in mortality rates ranging from 12-30%. S. typhi outer membrane protein is an important immunogen to react to specific IgM and IgG from infected patient, it is also a potential target for vaccine development.
This recombinant S. typhi OMP has 315 amino acids with 33kDa molecular size, a 6 x his tag is fused at its C-terminus. In house prepared lateral flow test, S. typhi IgG and IgM can be detected when OMP with LPS conjugated together to colloid gold at pH 9 to 9.5. It can also be used for other tests such as ELISA to test specific S. typhi IgG and IgM.
