The hepatitis A virus is a picornavirus; it is non-enveloped and contains a single stranded RNA packaged in a protein shell. HAV is comprised with capsid and nonstructural proteins. Capsid protein is also called as P1 protein. HAV capsid contains three portions, VP1, VP2 and VP3. VP3 is with strong immune-genicity to react to serum of infected individuals.
Recombinant HAV VP3 contains 245 amino acids derived from HAV VP3 protein sequence, a 6 x His tag is linked to the C-terminus of recombinant HAV VP3.
