- Homeobox protein DLX-1 or DLX1 is encoded by the gene DLX1 and is a member of the DLX family of homeodomain transcription factors. DLX1 is thought to function as a developmental regulator of signals from members of the TGF-ß superfamily.DLX1 is found expressed in the nucleus in brain and hematopoietic cell lines. Diseases associated with DLX1 include Dental Fluorosis, Witkop syndrome and Split-Hand/Foot Malformation 5.
