Copper-transporting ATPase 2 is a transmembrane enzyme that functions to provide copper to copper requiring proteins in the golgi network and is also to remove excess copper across plasma membranes out of the cell Copper-transporting ATPase 2 is expressed in liver and in lower leves in brain, heart, kidney, placenta and lung. In liver, it is involved in removing copper from hepatocytes into the bile for removal. Diseases associated with this gene include Wilson Disease and Menkes Disease.
