- Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-α), also known as TNF ligand superfamily member 2 (TNFSF2) and cachectin, is a human recombinant protein consisting of 158 amino acids with a MW of 17.5 kDa. TNF-α is purified from recombinant E. Coli as a single, non-glycosylated peptide. TNF-α is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the regulation of immune cells and is capable of inducing apoptotic cell death.
