Secernin 1 (SCRN1) is a member of the secernin family and is reported to be a tumor-associated antigen. The previous work identified SCRN1 as a tumor-associated gene by bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomes. SCRN1 is upregulated in gastric cancer cell lines and maybe a novel immunotherapy target. SCRN1 is a novel regulator of exocytosis. SCRN1 may promote cancer cell proliferation and secretion of matrix metalloproteinase-2/9 (MMP-2/9) proteins to accelerate tumor progression. SCRN1 expression is a prognostic factor in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. Scientists identified Secernin-1 (SCRN1) as a novel amyloid plaque-associated protein using localized proteomics. Immunohistochemistry studies confirmed that SCRN1 was present in plaque-associated dystrophic neurites.
